With the extreme temperatures and little to no rain we have had this summer it creates a problematic situation for your home’s foundation. The weather conditions have been perfect for lasting damage to your homes foundation as it allows for the soil to shrink and pull away from the foundation. With the soil pulled away your foundation is likely to sink/shift which causes damage to the structure of your home. This can lead to costly repairs and if enough damage is done it can make the home structurally unsound/unsafe.
Want to help your home during a drought? Place your watering hose 2 ft away from the foundation on the ground for about 10 minutes. Continue this process about every 20 ft around the foundation until you have gone around your entire foundation. This process should be done daily when the weather conditions contain high heat and lack of significant rainfall for long periods of time.
“A foundation needing structural repair can run $10,000 to $25,000 or more and none of this is covered by the typical homeowner’s insurance plan. I know we all have busy lives but making time to do this could save you from draining your savings account, taking out a loan and help prevent other costly repairs caused by structural damage being left not repaired.” – Danny Manley, Owner AquaProof
